Getting some carry out after a long day of traveling. The staff is super friendly & helpful and the food is delicious. The desert selection alone makes it worth the visit!

I've been to another Ravanelli's in the past so we decided to try this location out on the way home one afternoon. We arrived around 1:30 on a Sunday, and it looked as though the after-church crews were about to depart. We waited about 30 minutes for a table because the hostess was slammed with a line of people paying their checks at the front. Plenty of tables were available, there apparently just wasn't anyone to seat us. Once seated, we were served by three different young kids that seemed to compose the entire waitstaff. The service was what you would expect from 16 or 17 year old kids. They were all polite, but kind of slow and obviously stressed by the handful of larger groups. The food was similar to their other location. We ordered an appetizer sampler (which was HUGE), and two orders of white meat fried chicken which came with soup and salad. I'll say this - Ravanelli's does not skimp on portion sizes. The soups and salads were decent, though I was surprised by the amount of potato chunks and lack of chicken in my cream of chicken soup. The fried chicken was great, and it's what they're known for. We ended up taking two boxes of food home with us because the meal was basically four courses. All in all, not a bad deal for the price. I'd stick with the fried chicken and stay away from the pasta - there's nothing very authentic about it. Oh, and you have to try their bread with the garlic butter. It's probably the reason neither of us could finish more than one piece of chicken.

Terrible food. Went there about a few months ago and when I got my salad they put so much dressing it was soggy. The only thing I like is the Tortellini soup every thing else is horrible! I don't understand why so many people like this place unless it's only because we have no where better in town to go to.

Ravanelli's is quite possibly one of the best places for fried chicken, however thats not all they serve. You can get almost anything here from a quick burger/sandwich to pasta, and even a steak. Anytime I stop by I usually get the chicken dinner and usually have left overs. The chicken is crispy but not greasy, and has a great flavor. I also have to get the Tortellini Soup, this stuff is amazing and always a on my order. The atmosphere pretty basic and simple, family friendly and on special events they open up a buffet which allows you to sample a variety of their dishes. They do not skip out on the quality with the buffer, this is the same quality food that you order right off the menu. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. This is the original location, with the Collinsville being the 2nd to open and the newest location in Fairview Heights/O'Fallon. I have tried all three and the quality is consistent across the board.

I find myself in a quandary. I very much want to praise, rave, and profess my undying love and devotion for this GC staple... Problem is, I can not. Over the past few years, for one reason or another, the consistency of the food and service staff has been less than stellar. Nine out of ten times the fried chicken is as good as it always has been for thirty years, but the other menu selections have suffered. On my most recent visit, (formerly a three time a week patron), I ordered the "Ribeye steak grilled to perfection with garlic butter and crisp onions"... Ok, the soup? ... Awesome. The salad? ... Umm, love the dressing. Steak? .. HORRIBLE. The steak was so thin it could have been used for a tissue, it was grey in the "middle", (ordered medium rare), and the "crispy onions" didn't seem to be anything but the canned crap you put on green bean casserole. Ravanelli's was a outstanding place to go for a steak for a very long time, but something has happened. The pasta dishes are suffering from inconsistency as well. What was THE place for a good pasta bowl, has become the place for mushy noodles and sauces that seem closer to store made than homemade. This is not the Ravs I know and love. I know they can, (and hopefully will), do better. If they could just get some stability in the kitchen / FoH and drop the frozen junk all would be right in the world again.

The meals here are always hot and delicious. The family meals are huge, my favorites would have to be the spaghetti and house salad. Though it is a small building, much great meals can come from it. Don't let the small size of the place fool you.

The tortellini soup, house salad, and bread cannot be missed! The service is good, the food is good, but really, there isn't enough greatness going on to warrant a five star rating. I love the tortellini soup, and salad dressing. Don't miss those, or their bread! The pies are beautiful, but frankly, I can do better in my own kitchen. Good place, but don't expect a life changing experience.

My husband and I ate at the O'Fallon Restaurant, the food was great. I had the Italian beef, which was wonderful. My husband always gets the chicken, which he says is always the best around. The service is attentive and friendly at this location. I would recommend this location for anyone. My granddaughter loves the mac and cheese, and the server is always nice to bring her some black olives of her own. really love this place, wish I lived closer would probably be a daily visit for us.

Let's see, what would you order at a great Italian restaurant and steakhouse? Awesome fried chicken, of course! Seriously, don't even stop at their famous toasted ravioli, any of their delicious Italian recipes, or that juicy steak you're in the mood for. Go straight to the fried chicken, which is fried under pressure (often called "broasting"), sealing in all the moist goodness with the minimum of grease. If you don't try this fried chicken, you'll be missing on the great tastes of the East Side. Ravanelli's is tucked into a quiet strip mall in Granite City, with 2 other locations in IL in Collinsville and O'Fallon. The dining area is pretty standard for a Italian family restaurant, and service is always quick and efficient. I've been eating at this Ravanelli's location for over 40 years, and it's always provided the same great food and value since the beginning. A recent visit back to St. Louis gave me the chance to eat here 3 times in just one week. And I'd have eaten there more often if I could have. Over those three meals I had the Quarter Chicken mixed, the Grilled Chicken Alfredo, and Lasagna entrees. Also several bowls of their tasty tortellini soup. While the fried chicken was outstanding, the lasagna was in the top 5 I've ever had. The only bad thing about Ravanelli's is it's 1000 miles away from where I live! Atmosphere: 4 Service: 4 Food: 5 Value: 5 Between Ravenelli's and Castelli's Moonlight Restaurant at 255 in Alton, folks in this area have two outstanding Italian restaurants that both serve that great broasted chicken. I'm jealous of all of you who live there!

My family and I love Ravanelli's Restaurants, just not this location. Every once in a while we return, hoping the things that drive us away have changed, but they don't. The servers here are younger and less attentive than Collinsville or Fairview. The food is just as good as any of their other locations, but somehow loses the 'wow' factor that the other places have. The place is as dark as a dungeon. They changed it up where you pay your server instead of the front, which is annoying and unnecessary, and when your server has been slower than molasses and you just want to leave, you can't. Thought the deserts would be all exciting since they dragged their baker out of the Collinsville location to here, but they weren't. Perhaps the folks who run this one should go to the others and see what the other locations are doing right. This location doesn't even have home-made cookies at the register when you leave!

The food and service disappointed me. I'm a vegitarian so I had their salad bar. Bad idea. There were many dishes on the bar with meat in them. The lettuce for salad was the iceburg mix that you get from your grocery store. (im not a fan) I will give them this, the ranch was delicous! I also agree with the fella above me, it was too expensive for what you get. But I also didn't get much! Bad Salad, mashed potatoes, and a roll. All for 8 bucks? I don't recommend this place.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
